Internships & Pre-study Internships

Integral part of the Bachelor programme is an internship. Often, a pre-study internship and/or a basic practical training is required in addition to the study and examination regulations. You get necessary information on these pages.

General informations about basic internship and practical studies semesters

Here are the main foundations of a basic internship and the internship semester at the Technical College Ingolstadt summarized.

Information about the compulsory internship

You can find all neccessary information about internships in PRIMUSS section Internships or in Moodle.

Voluntary internship abroad

Please note that you must be applied for a voluntary internship to have funding opportunities, otherwise  the funding for internships abroad will be deleted in the future. For nquiries about internships abroad as well as applications, please contact the International Office.

Online application for internship

In Primuss-Portal you can apply for your general internship, practical study semester or voluntary internship.

The online registration of the internship takes place at THI at the Service Center Student Affairs, Department internship, therefor a specially created program was generated:

Online registration for compulsory internships

All informations relevant for the study internships are entered there.

Please note that the necessary approval of the contract requires that you first enter your internship data online in this program and upload the necessary documents (see notes on internships at the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt).

Specialised practical training / pre-practical training

If no specialised practical training has been completed, a pre-study internship must generally be completed. The pre-study work placement is generally completed before the start of the degree programme and/or during the lecture-free periods until the start of the 4th semester at the latest and corresponds to the future degree programme.

The pre-study work placement can be completed in a company of the student's choice.

The FOS/BOS technology course for technical degree programmes is recognised.

Pre-study work placement information sheet (pdf)

Regulations on pre-study work experience are set out in the study and examination regulations of the respective degree programmes for degree programmes that require practical training/pre-study work experience.

Applicants who wish to complete a dual study programme (combined study programme or a study programme with in-depth practical training) do not have to complete the corresponding pre-study practical training, provided they submit a valid contract with a company for the dual training with their application for admission.

Study and examination regulations as well as other university statutes can be found under University Statutes.
