New addition to the faculty: Prof Dr Björn Giesler

Prof Björn Giesler takes over the professorship "AI for data fusion in automotive applications". His enthusiasm for robotics, which was sparked by the "Star Wars" trilogy at the latest, has characterised his professional career to this day.

After completing his doctorate in the field of mobile robot systems, Prof Giesler gained several years of experience in the automotive industry. There he concentrated on a special type of robot - those that offer space for four people and travel on the motorway. As a passionate software developer, he attaches great importance to quality and safety, as well as speed and artificial intelligence.

Prof Giesler is looking forward to working with the THI students. He is excited about their ideas and their thirst for knowledge. His aim is to inspire them to work with software and hardware in equal measure and to accompany them on their journey into the world of automated systems.

Prof Giesler is also very active in his free time. He plays rock music (piano and bass), is interested in 3D printing and builds robots.
