Welcome, Prof Dr Laura Crompton!

Prof Dr Laura Crompton is joining our faculty this semester. A warm welcome!

Laura Crompton has been researching at the interface of ethics and technology for over 13 years. Her work is primarily dedicated to human-technology interaction and the associated questions of responsibility, agency and transparency. Over the past seven years, she has focussed specifically on human-AI interaction - in particular on the question of how artificial intelligence can influence human decisions and actions. In addition to her academic work, she worked as an AI ethics consultant at the Bavarian Digital Agency, where she developed a particular interest in the challenges and opportunities of AI ethics in and for public administration. Her current research focuses on AI, responsibility and the potential for shaping society, which she will bring to teaching and research with great commitment. In the winter semester, Prof. Crompton will teach on the AI, Computation & AI, Master UX and continuing education programmes.

She says of her start at THI: "I am very much looking forward to the lively exchange with my colleagues and to working closely with the students".

We are looking forward to the close collaboration!
