Startup opportunities in the defence industry

On 1 July 2025, the workshop "Startup Opportunities in the Defence Industry" took place in Ingolstadt - a joint event organised by TTZ Unmanned Flight Systems of THI and brigk / brigkAIR.

Over 50 startups and young companies took the opportunity to explore the special features and potential of the defence sector.

The programme offered exciting insights and plenty of room for exchange:

• Opening and greetings from Dr Franz Glatz, Prof Dr Gerhard Elsbacher and Klaus Bayer, as well as political representatives such as Albert Gürtner, Member of the State Parliament, and Lord Mayor Dr Michael Kern.
• Expert input from Airbus Defence and Space, MBDA Germany, Quantum Systems and HIRSCH Engineering Solutions
• Interactive workshops on the topics of Engineering & Technologies, Components & Subsystems and Military Systems
• Discussion of the results and subsequent get-together on the roof terrace

Key questions of the day:

Who is the right customer in a safety-critical environment? And how can ethically justifiable and economically viable business models be developed?
