The project focuses on improving road safety in the EU by integrating advanced driver assistance systems, user-oriented designs and AI systems into new vehicles. The project addresses challenges such as continuous safety assessment throughout a vehicle's life cycle, the need for rigorous evaluation of AI safety components, and the compatibility of strict regulations with competitiveness and environmental goals. The goal is to develop a unified approach to ensuring safety that makes European roads safer while promoting innovation and driving the adoption of CCAM technologies. This vision is in line with the European Union's strategic goals for sustainable and safe mobility. The project began on 1 June 2025 and will run for three years. The project consortium, led by Applus+ IDIADA, consists of 25 partners from industry and research. CARISSMA is participating in the CERTAIN project with three research teams: Professor Michael Botsch's team is focusing on AI methods for vehicle safety, while Professor Werner Huber's and Professor Ondřej Vaculín's teams will be researching test methods for validation. |
