Double victory for Schanzer Racing at Formula Student France

The Formula Student team of Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI), Schanzer Racing Electric e.V., celebrated a historic success last weekend in Lyon: With their electric racing car SRe25, the students secured first place in both the Business Plan competition and the Efficiency classification.

Thus, the team celebrated its first victories and demonstrated its innovative strength and commitment.

Schanzer Racing Electric was founded in 2010 and today brings together over 100 students from more than 30 study courses at THI. Every year, the members develop an all-electric racing car in an interdisciplinary collaboration and compete with it in international Formula Student competitions. In doing so, they gain technical expertise and valuable experience in project management, sponsorship, and business plan development.

This year, the team presented the Lumora project as part of the business plan: a plug-and-play retrofit kit that transforms existing streetlights into an intelligent, networked system. With the help of Schanzer Racing's driverless system, lanterns recognise vehicles and pedestrians, switch on in a targeted manner, and thus save up to 80 per cent of energy. In addition, the system provides anonymous traffic data that optimises infrastructure planning and real-time navigation and supports cities on their way to becoming smart and sustainable cities.

Following the successful competition, Schanzer Racing is preparing to appear at the IAA Mobility in Munich. There, the team will be presenting itself together with THI at the Ingolstadt Mobility Region stand and showing its racing car to an international audience.
